Men, we’re excited you’re joining us on this 8-week adventure! I know that God will use these next 8 weeks as a catalyst for growth and transformation in your life. If you take this seriously, you will be a better man 8 weeks from now than you are right now. Here's what to expect:

Weekly Mission

You'll receive a new mission to complete each week. You'll receive these missions on Friday mornings and will have until midnight the following Friday to complete them. There are four sections to each weekly mission.

Team Meeting Challenge

The TEAM meeting is the heart of Deep Roots (DR). Your relationship with and accountability to the men on your TEAM is essential to experiencing meaningful growth and transformation. Your TEAM must meet for at least one hour each week. This can be done in person or via Zoom. In person is always preferable, but not always possible. Your meeting will consist of discussing the content of the weekly missions.

Spiritual Challenge

This section of the mission consists of weekly readings from the book, weekly memorization verses, and daily spiritual habits.

Physical Challenge

This section includes weekly aerobic and strength training challenges and an additional health-related challenge. The frequency and duration of the weekly exercise will increase (at a reasonable level) over the course of the 8 weeks. You have the freedom to choose what activities you will do for your aerobic and strength training challenges. Some examples of aerobic exercise include walking, running, biking, swimming, mowing the grass, etc. Some examples of strength training include push-ups, sit-ups, planks, weightlifting, building a rock wall, etc. You can choose the activities that fit your life and your abilities right now. The whole world is your gym. Take advantage of it!

Relational Challenge

This section includes a weekly challenge designed to help you grow relationally and a 10-minute weekly Zoom call on Friday mornings for all the DR men. The Zoom call is at 7 am and will provide encouragement and updates each week. We want you to join the call if possible, but it will be recorded and posted for those who have legitimate work or family commitments at that time.

Self-Improvement Habit

Your Self-Improvement Habit will give you an opportunity to develop a meaningful and transformational habit over the next 8 weeks. Each week will provide guidance on how to choose, establish, and maintain your new, life-giving habit. You will look back 8 weeks from now with encouragement and satisfaction if you put a good effort toward this habit.

Scoreboard

DR incorporates a healthy level of competition to encourage you to complete the missions, establish a system for accountability, and have a little fun. Each of the challenges in the weekly missions is assigned a point value and you will earn points for each of the challenges you complete. Each team will report their score weekly. The top three teams at the end of DR will receive an award.

Sidenote: It’s about the points, but it’s not about the points. The points are valuable because they represent the completion of a challenge that will help you become better. The ultimate goal, however, is not to have the most points. The goal is to establish rhythms in your life that will help you become more like Jesus. Take the points seriously, but don’t freak out about it. The points are a vehicle to “spur one another on to good works;" they are not the end goal.

Events

Half-Time

There will be a half-time large group gathering on Saturday, March 6, at 7:30 am, place TBD. This is mandatory for everyone in the area that doesn’t have a legitimate conflict. It will provide an opportunity to be encouraged to finish strong and connect with the other men on the same awesome journey.

Finish Line

The finish line event will be a celebration of the completion of DRIV. It will be held on Saturday, April 27, at 7:30 am, place TBD. There will be good food, testimonies, and awards..
